Students are also encouraged to participate in local school functions or in family events or any other gathering.  Be sure to read the 'Program checklist' before your first performance.

Costume Rentals/ Jewlery/Accessories
Dance being a visual art, the costume plays an important role. All performers are given color co-ordinated costumes for a very reasonable rent at least a week before their performance.   Costumes will be in a clear cover with the size marked on the cover. . Please return the costumes exactly the way you have received it in the clear cover. Be considerate to others- hand wash blouses and or other pieces if stained. Additional dry cleaning fee will be charged if the costume returned dirty. It is your responsibility to make sure the outfit is clean before you pick it. Rent is due at the time you pick up the costume; also ensure all pieces are there. Costumes must be returned with in a week after the program.  A late fee will be charged if not returned with in two weeks without prior approval. Students are advised to buy their own ornaments set(temple) and accessories. But if needed it is also available for rent or sale. Anklets (Salangai/Ghungroo/Chilanka ) are only given when the child is ready for it and we do a small ceremony before wearing it first time.

Test

The syllabus is divided into 5 levels until Arangetram. At the end of each level, student may take a test. Test has 3 parts for the first 3 levels. Adavus, Performance of an item and written test. 70% or more is required to pass the test. Students who successfully complete each level will be given a certificate. Even though it is optional, I would highly recommend this to all students so parents and students can evaluate themselves.  Tests are conducted twice an year. See Syllubus page for details.
